Footage containing a new angle of the Kenosha, Wisconsin, shooting from two nights ago shows a now-wounded protester attempt to pull a pistol on the alleged teenage gunman first.

Kyle Rittenhouse, 17, from Illinois faces first degree murder charges for a triple shooting during a riot in the Wisconsin city that cost the lives of two protesters and seriously wounded another.

The third protester, Gaige Grosskreutz, was left with a cavity in his bicep as the round fired from Rittenhouse’s rifle tore flesh away.

Many narratives surrounding the shooter serve to incriminate the gun-toting teen as the incident polarizes the debate on social media.

In the footage, Grosskreutz appears to momentarily draw his pistol on Rittenhouse who, in turn, fires at Grosskreutz in a split second.

Footage from the New York Times also reveals that Rittenhouse did not fire the first shot which led to the shooting, but that it came from an unknown gunman.

Per National File:

“At [23:49], Rittenhouse is seen in this YouTube livestream,” Christiaan Triebert from the New York Times’s Visual Investigations Team tweeted on Thursday. “He’s being chased into a parking lot. While he is being pursued, an unknown gunman fires the first shot into the air.”

The footage circles Rittenhouse, fleeing from an angry mob before the incident has occurred. “That’s antifa man,” the man shooting the video can be heard saying. The footage then continues, circling a man behind Rittenhouse with a hand-gun, who shoots up into the air – evidence backed up by the man recording.

In addition to the new footage that shows an unknown gunman firing the first shot and the wounded protester appearing to draw his pistol first, a friend of the protester admitted that he wished to have killed the teenager instead.

Jacob Marshall, a friend of Grosskreutz, recalled events from a secondhand perspective, replied to a Facebook message, containing stills of footage of the shooting, with: “yes, after you get shot, you can’t drop your gun because your muscles are tensed up. This clearly shows his gun was pulled after the point I originally posted and he was shot after having his hands up! Thanks, this just proves the point more, bud.”

Continuing the conversation with the same social media user, Marshall added: “so, the kid shot Gaige as he drew his weapon and Gaige retreated with his gun in his hand. I just talked to [Gaige] too–his only regret was not killing the kid and hesitating to pull the gun before emptying the entire mag into him. Coward.”

“Should’ve killed him right then and there,” Marshall added, referring to another image.
