DeSantis Refuses to Support Trump if Trump is GOP Nominee

On Thursday, Ron DeSantis refused to commit to supporting 45th President Donald Trump if he is the GOP Presidential nominee. Key DeSantis Advisor Paul Ryan previously stated he would not attend the GOP Convention if Trump is the nominee. DeSantis continues to follow the Paul Ryan Playbook.

A reporter asked DeSantis if he would support Trump as the GOP nominee.

DeSantis responded, “So what I would say is this, um when you are saying Cuomo did better on COVID than Florida did, you are revealing yourself to just be full of it.”

DeSantis made these comments despite the fact that during the height of the Covid lockdowns, the Florida Governor ordered armed checkpoints on the Florida-Alabama state line.

Florida reopened around the same time other red state governors began to reopen their states. By May 2020, there was liberal outrage that Missouri allowed massive Memorial Day parties during the “pandemic.” Trump never criticized Missouri Governor Parson for having his state open in May 2020 or any other Governor who opened their state around that time.

Laura Loomer brought up a strong point that earlier in the year, the GOP said they would require candidates to sign a loyalty pledge committing their support to the 2024 GOP nominee. Loomer tweeted, “Hey @GOPChairwoman under your loyalty oath pledge that you’re requiring for the 2023-2024 GOP debates, doesn’t this disqualify
@RonDeSantis? He just refused, on video, to support Donald Trump if Trump is the GOP nominee for 2024. How will you hold @RonDeSantis accountable?”

Earlier this year, National File reported that Paul Ryan said he will not attend the 2024 GOP Convention in his home state of Wisconsin if Trump is the nominee. It seems Ron DeSantis is following Paul Ryan’s lead on all things Trump.
