BREAKING: US Senator Dianne Feinstein Dead at 90

Last Updated on September 29, 2023

California Democrat Senator Dianne Feinstein has died at age 90. Feinstein’s death comes after a long period of poor health and incapacitation, which often prevented her from fulfilling her duties in Washington, D.C.

Longtime left-wing political figure Dianne Feinstein, who served as the Mayor of San Francisco, Governor of California, and a U.S. Senator from California, is dead at age 90 after spending more than 5 decades in politics. Feinstein has spent years struggling with serious health issues and was often absent from Washington as a result.

Though Feinstein had already announced that she wouldn’t be running for re-election in 2024, her final term in the Senate was marked by serious and genuine concern for her health and cognitive function among both her political allies and adversaries.

Considering her extended and routine absences from Washington, the constitutionally guaranteed representation of her constituents also became a concern and, in many instances, it was believed that Feinstein’s staff was actually running her office and deciding on her votes, due to her decline.

Just weeks before her death, cameras captured one of her aides instructing her on how to vote during a Senate hearing.

In a post made to X, America First U.S. Senate candidate James Bradley, who is running in 2024 for Feinstein’s former seat, extended his sympathies and wrote that he is “running in hopes of filling her now vacant seat, because one less liberal means one MORE conservative voice can speak for our great state.”

“God rest Ms. Feinstein,” Bradley’s post went on.

“God BLESS America”.

With over a year remaining on Feinstein’s current U.S. Senate term, California Governor Gavin Newsom will be tasked with appointing her replacement. Previously, Newsom vowed to appoint a black woman to the position.

Newsom’s vow has caused speculation that he and the Democrats could maneuver incredibly unpopular Biden VP Kamala Harris into Feinstein’s old seat, opening up the VP slot on Joe Biden’s 2024 ticket for Newsom, and giving Democrats an off-ramp from Harris.
