Former US Attorney, Joe diGenova, was on the Howie Carr Show this Monday and he repeated what we’ve known for years: Today’s FBI is a corrupt organization.
At the 10:30 mark of his interview on the Howie Carr Show, diGenova said the following:
… Now, here’s what that tells you. It tells you when you go back and you look, was there a single whistleblower that came forward to object to those tactics [actions FBI took to raid Roger Stone’s house at gun point with 29 FBI agents, two boats and a helicopter, all filmed by CNN for bogus charges of lying to Congress]? And, the answer is ‘no’.
So I don’t want to hear anymore that this story is just about people at the top. It is not. There were a bunch of FBI Agents who did nothing. Who stood idly by and allowed, allowed, ALLOWED, an abusive prosecution to begin in the most outrageous way by a raid on an innocent citizen’s house [Roger Stone’s]…
We reported on August 18, 2018 that the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) were organizations that we once admired. Under the Obama Administration they were totally corrupted and this has an impact on these organizations as a whole.
Chris Farrell from Judicial Watch reminded us in July 2018 that a fish rots from the head. He was referring to the current culture within the DOJ and FBI. The leadership is corrupt and it certainly affects the organizations as a whole.
Farrell said:
I’ll call it what it is, it’s criminal misconduct on the part of senior FBI Agency officials, attorneys on their staff as well as Department of Justice officials. They knowingly and willingly provided false and misleading evidence to a Foreign Intelligence Service Court to have them sign off to conduct what’s really a legal coup against President Trump. It’s just that simple.
Farrell continues:
…The long term consequences for this is a denigration and minimizing of faith and trust in our Justice Department and our courts. In the long term this is the path to a failed state. Let me be very clear. We can’t keep going this way and pretend that, ‘Oh well, we’ll bounce back and it’ll be ok. It’s not’.
Finally, when addressing the criminals in the justice system, Farrell says:
Hey look the fish rots from the head down and at a certain point you know, even the rank and file becomes either negligent or complicit. There comes a point where you realize what your leadership is doing and the games their playing, the way they’re abusing the process and their authority and you can’t say that it doesn’t have an impact on the overall organization, and, that is the larger deeper problem. This is a corrosive code of conduct. It’s criminality and it’s going to have an impact on the country. We’ve got to address it and fix it now not six months from now.
The “Tone at the Top” at the DOJ and FBI is beyond corrupt and is reason for concern. This phrase refers to the impact that the leaders of an organization have on an entire organization. The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners discusses this principal (emphasis added):
It is crucial to a company’s success for executives and management to set an ethical example (or tone) of how their employees should behave in the workplace. When those in top positions set the wrong, unethical example by committing fraud, their employees will take heed and follow in their bosses’ fraudulent footsteps, creating an entire culture of workplace fraud. When executives put pressure on their employees to meet unrealistic goals to yield profits for the company, they are essentially forcing employees to do whatever it takes to achieve those goals, whether they achieve those goals improperly or not. In their minds, the end justifies the means.
The National Commission on Fraudulent Reporting (called the Treadway Commission) released a groundbreaking study in 1987 that reported the casual factors that lead to fraudulent behavior and financial statement fraud. According to the Commission, the tone at the top plays a crucial and influential role in creating an environment in which fraudulent financial reporting is ripe to take place.
The same goes for for government organizations as for corporations. When those in power abuse their jobs, the entire culture of an organization follows. The Obama Administration is a case in point. The corruption and criminal activity from the top contaminated the entire US government.
We now know that draining the DC swamp is one of the greatest tasks that President Trump faces. Some people like diGenova believe AG Barr will Drain the Swamp. He likely needs to tear it down to the ground first.
