President Trump announced he will be speaking to the nation at 6 p.m. EST Wednesday on the coronavirus situation. The speech was scheduled after a CDC official on Tuesday urged Americans to be prepared for a breakout as Trump was wrapping up a state visit to India–and as the media and Democrats are attempting to weaponize the virus as an election year issue even though there has not yet been in outbreak in the States. Also, the stock market has taken a hit this week as investors fear a slowing global economy from a potential pandemic.
Trump has already taken several actions to prepare for an outbreak while at the same time he has sought to not panic the public or markets. There have been no deaths in the U.S. from the virus so far and only two cases from transmission, all other cases (total 59) are related to overseas travel.
Coronavirus outbreak map as of February 23.
Trump posted several comments on the virus Wednesday morning and within the past day:
“Low Ratings Fake News MSDNC (Comcast) & @CNN are doing everything possible to make the Caronavirus look as bad as possible, including panicking markets, if possible. Likewise their incompetent Do Nothing Democrat comrades are all talk, no action. USA in great shape! @CDCgov…..I will be having a News Conference at the White House, on this subject, today at 6:00 P.M. CDC representatives, and others, will be there. Thank you!”

“CDC and my Administration are doing a GREAT job of handling Coronavirus, including the very early closing of our borders to certain areas of the world. It was opposed by the Dems, “too soon”, but turned out to be the correct decision. No matter how well we do, however, the………Democrats talking point is that we are doing badly. If the virus disappeared tomorrow, they would say we did a really poor, and even incompetent, job. Not fair, but it is what it is. So far, by the way, we have not had one death. Let’s keep it that way!”

Trump also retweeted a CDC statement on the virus, “There is currently no reported community spread of #COVID19 in the US. People should follow everyday measures to prevent the spread of respiratory viruses, such as staying home when sick and washing hands with soap and water. Stay informed; visit http://cdc.gov/COVID19.”

Last month Trump announced the formation of a coronavirus government task force and imposed coronavirus-related a travel ban.
The Trump administration has set up several quarantine facilities across the nation that have been used for the few Americans who have come down with the virus from overseas travel.
This week the Trump administration asked Congress for $2.5 billion in emergency funding authorization for the coronavirus, about half new funding and half permission to redirect funds.
Latest CDC numbers on U.S. cases: 59, with only two of those the result of person to person spread in the U.S. The rest are travel related from 45 patients repatriated from overseas and the 12 who developed a case after returning to the U.S.
