House Democrats have voted to begin yet another witch hunt.
In a strictly partisan vote, 212-182, the House voted on Thursday to create a select committee to oversee the federal response to the coronavirus crisis — and examine President Trump’s response.
The panel will be led by House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-SC) — a longtime Trump hater who has also endorsed Joe Biden. It will be comprised of seven Democrats and five Republicans — which means every vote will be 7-5 in favor of the Democrats.
The Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis within the House Oversight and Reform Committee will review the “efficiency, effectiveness, equity and transparency” of how
federal relief money is expended — and examine the Trump administration’s response to the coronavirus.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) called for the committee earlier this month, but then she adjourned the House and sent lawmakers home.
“The committee will root out waste, fraud and abuse,” Pelosi said during House floor debate on Thursday. “It will be laser-focused on ensuring that taxpayer money goes to workers, paychecks and benefits. And it will ensure that the federal response is based on the best possible science and guided by health experts, and that the money invested is not being exploited by profiteers and price gougers.”
But Republican lawmakers said the new panel is a clear attempt to try to hurt Trump in the runup to the November election.
Rep. Jim Jordan, the top Republican on the House Oversight and Reform Committee, said the select panel is “just a continuation of the attack that the Democrats have had on the president for the past four years.”
“Now this. A select committee in an election year, the summer of an election year, to attack the president,” Jordan said, adding that it will be led by the “biggest supporter of the Democrats’ nominee for president.”
“This is just one more attempt by the Democrats to go after the president, one more chance for them to attack the president in an election year,” Jordan said, noting that there are already eight processes underway to track federal money for virus relief.

So why does Speaker Pelosi want to add her "select committee?"

When Pelosi announced her intention to create the committee, Trump warned against politicizing the virus.
“I want to remind everyone here in our Nation’s Capitol, especially in Congress, that this is not the time for politics, endless partisan investigations, here we go again. They’ve already done extraordinary damage to our country in recent years,” Trump said on April 2. “You see what happens, it’s a witch hunt and witch hunt after witch hunt and in the end the people doing the witch hunt have been losing. They’ve been losing by a lot. And it’s not any time for witch hunts, it’s time to get this enemy defeated.”
