Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) has criticized calls for President Barack Obama to testify to the Senate about his involvement in the ongoing Obamagate scandal.

Graham, a centrist Senator who refused to vote for Trump in November 2016, now believes it would set a “bad precedent” to have President Obama face questions from Republican Senators.

“I think it would be a bad precedent to compel a former president to come before the Congress, that would open up a can of worms,” Graham said in an interview with state media outlet C-SPAN. “For a variety of reasons, I don’t think that’s a good idea.”

As a close ally of the intelligence community, Graham has consistently stood against efforts to further investigate the Obama deep state’s involvement into the impeachment hoax. He opposed attempts to subpoena the phone records of House Intelligence Committee Chair Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), and supported legislation to protect deep state operative Robert Mueller, who conducted the witch-hunt into unfounded allegations of collusion between the 2016 Trump campaign and Russia.

With the recent revelation that Obama was aware of the FBI surveillance of National Security Advisor Mike Flynn, the President has called for the former President to be held accountable in front of a Senate committee.

“If I were a Senator or Congressman, the first person I would call to testify about the biggest political crime and scandal in the history of the USA, by FAR, is former President Obama. He knew EVERTHING,” Trump tweeted. “Do it Lindsey Graham, just do it. No more Mr. Nice Guy. No more talk!”

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) has called on Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden to also testify, given his involvement in Flynn’s unmasking.

“He needs to be questioned on this because we can’t elevate someone to the president who is willing to use the intelligence community to spy on his political opponents,” Paul said. “That should be a deal-killer.”

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) has gone even further, calling for the appointment of a Special Counsel to investigate Obamagate, accusing the Obama administration of “unprecedented action” against the Trump campaign.

“The more we learn, the worse it looks which is why we need a full investigation into what went on,” Hawley stated on Fox News.

It remains unknown why Lindsey Graham is not joining his fellow Senators in calling for an in-depth probe of the Obama administration’s collusion with the deep state.
