Mainstream publication Slate was at the center of a social media backlash after they posted a podcast episode titled “A History of Violent Protest: Big structural change in America doesn’t happen without violence.”

The podcast episode came after riots brought many American cities to a grinding halt, costing multiple lives and tens of millions of dollars of damage.

In the tweet captioned, “Non-violence is an important tool for protests, but so is violence,” the left-wing outlet drew fury from many tweeters.

“Violence is OK, except for attacking Slate and their writers cuz then it’s against the narrative,” one person commented.

“I wonder what slate will think when abortion opponents read this article on their way to a clinic to protest,” wrote another.

A third remarked: “@Slate delights in the deaths of the five black people who have been killed by the riots. They are happy to lay them as a sacrifice at the alter of “progress”. Despicable.”

A fourth tweeted: “It is a federal crime to engage in concerted, coordinated violent acts to achieve a political result through intimidation of an American community. So kiss my a**.”

Others brought up how Michelle Malkin had been stifled by Twitter for posting a tweet suggesting “violent criminal looters” should be shot.

Twitter has suspended Michelle Malkin for a tweet that argued that “violent criminal looters” should be shot, and is demanding she remove it.

Malkin, the conservative and pro-America First political commentator, had written on Twitter as the recent Black Lives Matter riots first spread around the country that “violent criminal looters should be shot.”

Five days after posting the intial tweet, Twitter decided that Malkin’s comments violate their rules against “abuse and harassment,” and have demanded that she delete the tweet. If she does, a 12 hour countdown will begin before she is no longer suspended from the platform.

Far-left anarchist agitators Antifa were also to be designated as a terrorist organization for their violent role in helping to perpetrate the riots that gripped dozens of major U.S. cities.
