Update (1138ET): Reports chronicled by FlightRadar show that the Boeing 757 with reported problems during takeoff circled above the Greater Manchester Area Monday afternoon before the plane landed safely. Media reports have cited a “minor fault” that caused an audible boom mentioned in earlier reports.
Here are some tweets from reporters and exasperated onlookers from before the plane landed, as some described it flying in circles while what appeared to be smoke billowed out of it.
Watching a plane that’s just left the runway fly over your garden on fire is probably one of the scariest things I’ve ever witnessed 😱 #Manchesterairport
