The stalled investigation of the Clinton Foundation and its role in the sale of the Canadian company Uranium One to the Russian government backed Rosatom Atomiс Energy Corporation has found new life and a new home on US Attorney John Durham’s desk.
Sources close to the Durham investigation confirm that Durham will now be looking into both the Clinton Foundation and Hillary Clinton’s deleted emails as part of his investigation into the origins of the FBI’s Russia Probe.
The initial 2017 investigation into the Clinton Foundation was assigned to US Attorney John Huber, a 2015 Obama appointee. Then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions assigned the case to Huber after pressure from congressional Republicans to appoint a Special Counsel to dive into the matter. Huber’s assignment also gave him authority to examine the facts surrounding the Hillary Clinton email scandal and whether FBI and Department of Justice “policies and procedures” were followed.
Hillary Clinton admitted to using an unauthorized email server based out of her Chappaqua, New York home, for official State Department business. Questions surrounding her deletion of 31,830 emails, considered government documents and under subpoena by the Select Committee on Benghazi, are still left unanswered.
The status of Huber’s investigation has been a mystery since its inception. Reports from sources close to the investigation told FOX News that Huber has been facing increased criticism from higher-ups at the Justice Department and White House because of his lack of progress and unenthusiastic investigative manner.
“There are folks that are aware of the fact that Huber has not done much, and there has been criticism at the Justice Department and the White House. Folks that have been concerned about what he did or didn’t do, and many of them feel that Huber did not dig deep enough or work hard enough,” the source said, adding, many are “very concerned about why there hadn’t been more done.”
Since taking charge of Huber’s investigation, Durham has sought documents and transcripts of interviews about how FBI and Justice Department officials handled the investigation into allegations of political corruption at the Clinton Foundation.
