A four-year-old boy was killed in a mass shooting that took place in the early hours of Monday morning in Struthers, Ohio.

At around 2 a.m. on September 21, a man broke into the Ohio home and began shooting indiscriminately at those inside the residence, two men, two women, and the young boy, before they even had a chance to respond or defend themselves.

As a result, a four-year-old boy, later identified as Rowan Sweeney, was shot dead as the two men remain in serious condition and two women — including the boy’s mother — are currently stable.

One man was shot in the head twice and is in critical condition. Another man was hit twice in the back and is in “close” to critical condition. Both women were hit in the leg and hip area. Police said that Rowan died in his mother’s arms.

Following the shooting, the boy’s father, David Sweeney, issued a public plea during a press release for the suspect to turn himself into police after the heinous crime claimed the life of his son.

“Whoever did this, man, just turn yourself in. Just be a man, dude. Just be a man. You’re sick. You’re just sick. You took my son from me. This is my baby boy. You took him because you’re sick. You can live with that for the rest of your life, but this is my baby,” Sweeney said.

Sweeney also mentioned how his son was “the sweetest boy” in the sorrowful release.

On the state of the victims, WKBN reported:

The adult victims have been identified as 20-year-old Andre Stephon McCoy, of Youngstown, 30-year-old Yarnell Green Jr., of Youngstown, 20-year-old Cassandra Marsicola, of Campbell and 22-year-old Alexis Schneider, of Struthers.

A few hours after the father’s press release, a man turned himself in to police for the mass shooting.

According to Struthers Police Chief Tim Roddy, Kimonie Bryant, 24, gave himself up for authorities and is currently being held with no bond in Mahoning County Jail. Bryant is currently facing charges of aggravated after being taken into custody, per WKBN.
