Just about an hour after President Trump announced that he and the First Lady, Melania, tested positive for COVID-19, The Washington Post saw fit to wonder out loud what it would be like if the President died.

In a now deleted tweet on its official Twitter feed, The Washington Post posted a tweet that read, “Opinion: Imagine what it would be like to never have to think about Trump again.”

And while The Post claimed the post was unrelated to the President’s announcement, the timing of their post – and the management of their Twitter feed in light of the President’s announcement – call that claim into question.

The Post’s inclusion of the original post in its retraction and deletion – claiming the tweet was “tasteless” in light of the news of the President’s health, illustrates their intention to stand by the post from the beginning.

And The Post was not alone in its vitriol toward the President. The hate spewed from all quarters and was bolstered by “opinion” and “analysis” laying the blame for the President’s malady at his feet exclusively.

Squad member US Rep. Rashida Talib (D-MI), took the opportunity to not only misinform her followers about the President’s practice of wearing a mask, she doubled down on the “he’s a liar” talking points that Democrats from across the board are parroting.

And notables from the pundit sphere piled on.

President Trump’s former White House physician, Retired Rear Admiral Dr. Ronny Jackson, said the President is presenting as “asymptomatic” for effects of the virus even as the President says he is feeling mild flu-like symptoms. “Once he tests negative twice, you know, he should be safe to go back to, you know, to his normal routine, and that will be well before the next debate,” Jackson said.
