Two men who were attempting to assault a woman at an Illinois home at gunpoint after a neighbor armed with an “AR-15” and semi-automatic handgun shot both of the men dead by the time police had arrived at the scene.

The men, who were later identified as brothers Jimmy and Christian Tenorio, 34 and 36 respectively, were dressed as utility workers when they knocked on the door of the Waukegan apartment which was answered by an unnamed woman in her early 30s holding a toddler.

The men pushed their way through the door when the woman had cracked it open. Frightened, the woman began screaming for help as one of the two men, Christian, brandished a revolver. The commotion was heard by a downstairs renter that lived in the basement below the woman’s home, as she cried for help.

According to Second Amendment Daily, the man grabbed his handgun to investigate the noise. When he made his way upstairs, he yelled at the two men. Before Christian had a chance to take aim at the downstairs dweller, the man opened fire and shot the home invader.

Younger brother Jimmy grabbed the revolver and dragged his brother Christian outside. Meanwhile, the downstairs renter went to get his “AR-15.” The two men exchanged “multiple rounds of gunfire” at each other.

When police arrived moments later, they discovered both motionless brothers lying dead on the front lawn. The downstairs tenant, the home invasion victim, and toddler were all found to be unharmed following the ordeal.

Police decided not to press charges on the tenant who shot both home invaders. Waukegan Police Department issued a release on Facebook describing the incident:

On September 22, 2020 at approximately 10am, officers from the Waukegan Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to a single-family home, in the 100 block of Frolic Ave., for a reported burglary in progress. The caller was an occupant from the single-family home. The caller stated that, at least, one of two subjects had a gun. Upon location, officers located two male subjects, lying in the front yard, with gunshot wounds. Both male subjects were deceased.
Based on the severity of the incident the Waukegan Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division (CID) responded to investigate. Currently Investigators believe that the two male suspects attempted to force their way into the home. While doing so an altercation occurred and shots were exchanged from the occupants of the home and the two male, deceased, subjects.
