One of the candidates in the January 5, run-off election for US Senator in Georgia was a stanch defender of the radical Reverend Jeremiah Wright, at one time pastor to President Barack Obama, and stood with him during the controversy surrounding Wright’s infamous 2003 “God D*** America” sermon.

Raphael Warnock, a longtime defender of the controversial Wright’s – and a pastor in his own right, not only stood by Write in the aftermath of that controversy, he supported Wright in his comparison of US leaders to al Qaeda, and Wright’s claim that HIV was created by the US government as a way to kill black people.

Warnock’s silence on the matter speaks volumes about where his true beliefs lay.

Senator Kelly Loeffler (R-GA), who Warnock is challenging on January 5, took to highlighting his support for Wright in a statement issued this week. “[Warnock] has a long history of anti-Israel extremism,” Loeffler wrote on Twitter. “He defended Jeremiah Wright’s anti-Semitic comments.”

In his silence, Warnock appears to lean more towards the mindsets of those in “The Squad” than the moderate that he paints himself to be.

Warnock is on record as being sympathetic to the anti-law enforcement “Defund the Police” movement. As far back as 2015 he said police officers acted like “gangsters” and called law enforcement officers “thugs” and “bullies.” He also stated that cops pose a “danger” to children.

In March of 2015, in referencing the shooting of Michael Brown in a sermon – himself a thug and a bully who had robbed a convenience store prior to his fatal confrontation with police, Warnock said, “So in Ferguson, police power showing up in a kind of gangster and thug mentality – you know you can wear all kinds of colors and be a thug, you can sometimes wear the colors of the state and behave like a thug.”

That November, he said, “When you think about the fact that America still warehouses 25 percent of the world’s prisoners, we shouldn’t be surprised when we see police officers act like bullies on the street.”
