BREAKING: Senator Loeffler Announces She Will Object To Electoral College Votes If She Wins Tomorrow

Georgia Senator Kelly Loeffler is the latest to join a growing coalition of Republicans who will object to the certification of the Electoral College votes.

In a statement, Senator Loeffler, who is currently contesting the special election in her home state set to take place on Tuesday, said that she will join the 12 other Senators who are planning to object to the certification of the Electoral College votes on Wednesday.

“Elections are the bedrock of our democracy and the American people deserve to be 100% confident in our election system and its outcomes,” Loeffler said. “But right now, tens of millions of Americans have real concerns about the way in which the November Presidential election was conducted – and I share their concerns”:

The American people deserve a platform in Congress, permitted under the Constitution, to have election issues presented so that they can be addressed. That’s why, on January 6th, I will vote to give President Trump and the American people the fair hearing they deserve and support the objection to the Electoral College certification process. I have also already introduced legislation to establish a commission to investigate election irregularities and recommend election integrity measures, which I will be working to get passed in the Senate. We must restore trust, confidence and integrity in our election system.

The statement added that Loeffler will object to the Electoral College votes by herself, and will not join Senator Ted Cruz’s Electoral Commission. Senator Josh Hawley, the first Senator to go on record as opposing the certification, is the only other currently objecting to not be a part of the coalition. As National File reported:

Cruz and this new coalition of Senators are demanding a 10-day audit in battleground states to examine the numerous credible accusations of widespread voter fraud that plague at least six states… “We intend to vote on January 6 to reject the electors from disputed states as not ‘regularly given’ and ‘lawfully certified’, unless and until that emergency 10-day audit is complete”… They cite as precedent the 1877 race between Samuel Tilden and Rutherford Hayes in which there were allegations of fraud in multiple states.

Loeffler’s opposite number in Georgia, David Perdue, has said that he supports the fight against the Electoral College votes, but due to the differing natures of their elections, he will not be certified in time to take his seat in the Senate if the pair are victorious on Tuesday.

“I’m encouraging my colleagues to object,” Perdue said. “This is something that the American people demand right now. You heard in the last section that there are huge irregularities in Georgia. They need to be investigated. And they need to be corrected, in my opinion.”
