Kevin McCarthy Parrots FBI’s Version of January 6th Events, Blames ‘Pro-Trump Extremists’

Kevin McCarthy, US Capitol Riot

Ignoring a growing number of videos and evidence proving otherwise, US Rep. Kevin McCarthy (D-CA), the Minority Leader in the House, has signed-on to the official narrative advanced by the FBI, Democrat legislators and the mainstream media: That the chaos and violence on January 6, 2021, on Capitol Hill was an organic, uncoordinated effort by “Trump extremists” with no outside agitation.

On the weekly GOP House conference call this week, McCarthy told his caucus’s membership that the mayhem at the Capitol Building last week was not caused by Antifa. Instead, he insisted it was a “pro-Trump mob” that breached the Capitol Building, ransacking offices and accessing the floors of both the House and the Senate.

One source familiar with the call said, “McCarthy told all members on the call that he has been receiving FBI briefings and it is clear that Antifa was not behind this… That it was in fact right-wing extremists and QAnon adherents, and he urged members to stop spreading false information to the contrary.”

Video evidence is surfacing that suggests outside agitators from Antifa and BLM instigated much of the chaos of the chaos, and were simply ushered into restricted zones by Capitol Hill police.

McCarthy’s statement comes after US Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), cited the growing number of videos substantiating the claims that Antifa and other anti-American groups were behind the violence at the Capitol on Wednesday.

Gaetz was supported by others in Congress, including Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL), who doubled down on Twitter.

“Evidence growing that fascist ANTIFA orchestrated Capitol attack with clever mob control tactics,” Brooks tweeted the day after the riot.

The FBI issued a statement that included the words “at this time” so as to give them plausible deniability wiggle room Friday, saying  they have determined that no members of Antifa were involved in the breach of the Capitol.

“We have no indication of that at this time,” Washington Field Office Assistant Director Steven D’Antuono said last week.

Acting US Attorney for the District of Columbia, Michael Sherwin, also stated that investigators had not seen evidence of Antifa’s presence.
