Former US Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI), issued a cautionary statement to the American people in the aftermath of the hysteria surrounding the chaos at the US Capitol Building on January 6th: Beware of those in your own government.
Gabbard’s warning was less about those who “stormed” the Capitol and more about her concern about “domestic enemies” to the United States in the national security community and Big Tech industry. She warned of their perceived plot to create a “police state” in America.
The former Congresswoman from Hawaii posted a video to Twitter that warned against the efforts of many in Congress to expand the federal government’s national security powers in light of the events of January 6th.
In the video, she specifically called out former CIA Director John Brennan and US Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) – two leading advocates of an expansion of national security powers – and people like them in elected and appointed office, labeling them “domestic enemies” of the country.
“The mob who stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6 to try to stop Congress from carrying out its constitutional responsibilities were behaving like domestic enemies of our country,” Gabbard said. “But let’s be clear, the John Brennans, Adam Schiffs and the oligarchs in Big Tech who are trying to undermine our constitutionally protected rights and turn our country into a police state with KGB-style surveillance are also domestic enemies — and much more powerful, and therefore dangerous, than the mob that stormed the Capitol.”

Gabbard’s video includes a clip of Brennan saying members of the Biden administration “are now moving in laser-like fashion to try to uncover as much as they can about what looks very similar to insurgency movements that we see overseas,” referring to the organized efforts at the Capitol.
Ironically, increasing evidence is pointing to anarchist and Leftist organizers as the antagonists in the January 6th, violence at the Capitol Building. Video evidence implicates QAnon, Boogaloo boys, Antifa, and Black Lives Matter operatives in the violent actions that occurred.

To Gabbard’s point, Schiff, in 2019, introduced legislation that would have created a federal domestic terrorism criminal statute.
US Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL), sponsored a similar bill that would have established new offices in the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Justice, and the FBI to scrutinize domestic terrorism in the US.
Gabbard has openly called on President Biden and all members of Congress to defend American civil liberties at a time when most elected officials see an opening to establish what would be tantamount to a police state.
“President Biden, I call upon you and all of Congress from both parties to denounce efforts by Brennan and others to take away our civil liberties endowed to us by our Creator and guaranteed in our Constitution. If you don’t stand up to them now, then our country will be in great peril,” she said.
