Liz Cheney led ten House Republicans who voted to impeach President Trump in January, a week before the Biden inauguration.
The final vote was 232-197 with ten Republicans joining Democrats to impeach the Republican President.
The ten Republicans included:
1. House Republican Conference Chair Liz Cheney (R-WY)
2. Rep. Anthony Gonzalez (R-OH)
3. Rep. Jamie Herrera Beutler (R-WA.)
4. Rep. John Katko (R-NY)
5. Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL)
6. Rep. Peter Meijer (R-MI)
7. Rep. Dan Newhouse (R-WA)
8. Rep. Tom Rice (R-SC)
9. Rep. Fred Upton (R-MI)
10. Rep. David Valadao (R-CA)
Then last weekend Republican Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler of Washington leaked news of a January 6, 2021 phone call between House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and former President Donald Trump. According to CNN Herrera Beutler had kept “copious notes” about a call between Trump and House GOP leader Kevin McCarthy on the day of the January 6 attack on the US Capitol.
Herrera Beutler and other Republicans briefed on the conversation had confirmed to CNN that Trump commented the would-be insurrectionists cared more about the election results than McCarthy. The congresswoman was ready to testify had she been called to, according to her spokesman,
Kevin McCarthy denies the leaked report by Herrera Beutler.
Herrera Beutler was not on the call with McCarthy or Trump. She would have been another hear-say witness for Democrats. But she never made it in front of the Senate impeachment panel because Democrats folded on witnesses when Republicans threatened to call in Pelosi and question her on her negligence before and during the January 6th rioting.
On Tuesday former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski announced the Trump Team will announce a viable candidate to run against Rep. Herrera Beutler in the upcoming primary.
This is great news for the Trump base and the country.
