This was awkward.
Jill Biden traveled to Delano, California on Wednesday to celebrate Cesar Chavez’s birthday.
Cesar Chavez, a “hero” to people in the labor movement, was an activist who fought for fair wages for farm workers.
One aspect of Cesar Chavez’s activism that the Democrats don’t like to talk about was his fierce opposition to illegal immigration.
Mrs. Biden landed in Bakersfield this afternoon before making her way to the Forty Acres National Historic Landmark in Delano where Chavez formed his first union.
“He is a union person. I am a member of the teachers union,” Jill Biden said during a speech. “We are a union couple.”
Powerful speech by @FLOTUS highlighting the President’s commitment to farm workers, a pathway to citizenship, and passage of the Farm Workforce Modernization Act. Can’t think of a better way to celebrate Cesar Chavez Day. Happy Birthday Tata! pic.twitter.com/aHw8hoiTpv
