French President Macron has been slapped in the face by an angry citizen during a tour in the south-east of the country, with video of the incident going viral.
The video shows Mr Macron approaching the crowds in the small town of Tain-l’Hermitage, just outside the city of Valence in the south-east of France. After Macron gets close to the barriers, he begins talking to a man in a green shirt, and holds onto his left arm for a moment. The man in the green shirt then slapped Macron with his right hand across his face, as the French President is then dragged away by security who also pile onto the attacker. Following being slapped and the man arrested, Macron then returns to the crowd to greet people.

News reports claim that the man, who has yet to be identified, reportedly shouted “down with Macron-ism” during the incident, as well as “Montjoie, Saint-Denis,” the battle cry of the ancient Kingdom of France, the slogan of which is on the banner of King Charlemagne. In a statement reported by the AFP news agency, the man was arrested along with one other, with both currently being questioned by the local gendarmerie.
The visit came as France begins to reopen following the worst of the COVID-19 pandemic, with Macron planning to greet restaurant owners and others in the service industry, as bars and cafes and other places will soon be once again able to open up to indoor customers, after having been shut down for 7 months in total. On Wednesday, the overnight curfew put in place in France will also be pushed back from 9PM to 11PM, but will not be taken away completely.
In February, National File reported that Macron declared that the biggest threat to current global cohesiveness was the extreme woke leftist ideologies being pushed by the United States and the current administration.
