Biden Administration Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin will soon announce that all active duty troops will be required to be vaccinated for COVID-19 at the direction of the President, reports CNN.
Secretary of Defense for the Biden Administration Lloyd Austin is set to announce mandatory COVID-19 vaccinations for all active duty troops at the direction of Joe Biden, according to a report from CNN. “Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin is expected to seek authorization to make Covid-19 vaccines mandatory for all active duty troops as soon as this week, following President Joe Biden’s directive that the military examine how and when it could make that happen,” CNN reported.
“If the secretary makes that final recommendation, he could seek a presidential waiver to allow the vaccine to be administered to troops before full approval by the Food and Drug Administration. A Pentagon decision and recommendation on how to proceed could come this week, several officials say.” (READ MORE: Biden’s Military Puts West Point Cadets in Solitary Confinement If They Refuse COVID Vaccine)
The news comes shortly after Biden announced new pandemic requirements attempting to get millions of federal workers and contractors vaccinated for COVID-19. When asked if federal employees would be required to get the coronavirus vaccine, President Biden had previously told reporters, “It’s under consideration right now, but if you’re not vaccinated, you’re not nearly as smart as I thought you were,” National File reported.
As corporations, under the guidance of the federal government, work to force Americans to get vaccinated, New York Mayor Bill de Blasio has announced vaccine passports to eat inside restaurants, go inside gyms, and visit entertainment venues. The “Excelsior Pass,” presented on smartphones, will be required to show proof of vaccination to enter many indoor venues, as National File reported.
