A Rwandan refugee who caused a major fire at a cathedral in Nantes has been named by authorities as the culprit who murdered a Catholic priest earlier today.
A source close to the investigation said that the murderer presented himself at a police station in the town of Mortagne-sur-Sevre and admitted he had killed the 60-year-old priest, later identified as Olivier Maire, who had apparently been welcoming the man into his church for months.
“All my support for the Catholics of our country after the dramatic murder of a priest in the Vendée region,” French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin wrote on Twitter.
Fr. Olivier Maire, was found dead this morning in the village of Saint-Laurent-sur-Sèvre in the Vendee, murdered by the same Rwandan immigrant behind last year's fire the devastated Nantes Cathedral, whom he in charity had taken into his home. https://t.co/AbL4IrvlZk pic.twitter.com/Sdgh3cUUVf

The same suspect, Emmanuel A., also admitted to being responsible for the devastating fire that ripped apart the Gothic Nantes cathedral in July 2020.
“While firefighters were able to contain the Nantes blaze after just two hours and save the main structure, its famed organ, which dated from 1621 and had survived the French revolution and World War II bombardment, was destroyed,” reports France 24.
Priceless artifacts, including 16th century stained glass windows were also obliterated.
Populist leader Marine Le Pen responded to the shocking murder of the priest by highlighting France’s weak border policy.
“You can be an illegal migrant, set fire to a cathedral, not be expelled and then reoffend by murdering a priest,” she said.
Rwandan migrant who set fire to the #Nantes Cathedral last year, killed a priest in #France. Moreover, he would not have been able to stay in France even when the arson made,bc he was expelled in 2019 for violent crime, but he was not deport in two years. https://t.co/lG4rEq5ElV pic.twitter.com/QGB29emrDN

Interior Minister Darmanin responded by accusing her of “causing debate without knowing the facts,” asserting that the suspect couldn’t be deported because he was under investigation.
There have been numerous other incidents where “refugees” have been responsible for murders and terror attacks.
The terrorist who beheaded a woman and killed two others near a church in Nice, France last October was a Tunisian boat migrant who arrived on the Mediterranean island of Lampedusa, Italy.
The Chechen teen who beheaded school teacher Samuel Paty for showing cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad had also been granted a 10-year residency in France as a refugee the previous March.
The majority of the Paris massacre terrorists exploited the refugee wave to enter Europe.
The three terrorists who went on a knife rampage in Lyon in April 2020 were also Sudanese refugees.
