At an event last night, Rep. Dan Crenshaw berated what appears to be young girl after she asked him about his previous statement about Jesus Christ.
The girl asked Crenshaw about remarks he made in March of 2020. On a podcast, Crenshaw suggested society benefits from “hero archetypes” and specifically cited two examples: Jesus Christ and Superman. Many generously judged this to be a comparison between Jesus Christ and fictional heroes, while others slammed Crenshaw for denying the divinity of Christ after the remark.
“I can’t wrap my head around this,” said the speaker, explaining why she asked Crenshaw about the statement.
“I’ll help you,” Crenshaw said condescendingly. “Put a period after Jesus and don’t question my faith.” The crowd immediately erupted at his reaction.
They turned on Crenshaw, saying he “can’t talk to a kid like that.” A small “Let’s Go Brandon” chant broke out, except directed at Crenshaw instead of Joe Biden.
“I can question your faith if this is what you said,” the girl told the Congressman.
“You guys can ask questions about all these things and I will answer that, but don’t question my faith,” Crenshaw shot back to the girl.
The exchange continued to draw angry responses from the audience, with shouts of “moron” hurled toward the Congressman.

Crenshaw previously compared the Son of God to a fictional superhero during an interview on the Jocko Podcast in 2020, saying “Jesus is a hero archetype.”
“The important thing is that we societal hero archetypes that we look up to. Jesus is a hero archetype, Superman is a hero archetype. Real characters too, you know, I put, I could name a thousand,” Crenshaw said in 2020.
“You know, know Rosa Parks, Ronald Reagan, all of these people embody certain attributes that the American people think ‘This is good.’”
In context, it appears Crenshaw separated individuals he considered to be fictional – Jesus Christ and Superman – with individuals he considered to be real, like Parks and Reagan.
“Nowhere in that quote am I saying Jesus is not real. That’s a ridiculous statement,” Crenshaw said to the girl. “Of course he’s the Son of God and of course he’s real.”
She retorted, “You can say two different things. You can say that on a podcast and you can say this here.”
“On the podcast nobody would’ve understood it that way. I think you’re twisting it that way, which isn’t very Christian,” Crenshaw said, drawing more ire from the audience.
“Come on!” members of the audience said to Crenshaw. “Let’s go Brandon!”
Crenshaw has recently sparred with members of the America First wing of the Republican Party, including Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene.
While many Republicans rushed to defend Greene after she was censored by Twitter, Crenshaw instead started a social media feud with his colleague via Instagram.
