Judge Daniel C. Moreno, a District Court Judge in Minnesota’s Hennepin County, gave a lenient sentence to a child porn offender, allowing the porn offender to serve his child porn sentence at the same time as his drug sentence. Judge Moreno is a “leader in the Boy Scouts of America,” according to Judge Moreno’s own biography.
A man in Minnesota named Christopher Todd Smith reportedly had more than 30,000 child porn images and got charged with six felony counts of child porn possession and one felony count of possessing meth (he smiled in his mugshot).
According to Alpha News, “Smith pleaded guilty to all seven counts last November and was sentenced last week in Hennepin County court. Smith received a 78-month sentence on the drug count and a 25-month sentence on one of the child porn counts. The two sentences will be served concurrently. The other five child porn counts received no pronounced sentence. In the original sentencing order, Judge Daniel C. Moreno ordered the 25-month sentence on the child porn count stayed but later amended the sentence to be served concurrently with the drug count sentence.”
Judge Moreno’s biography for his University of Wisconsin official page states: “As the son of Mexican-American immigrants Dan has been an active member of the Latino legal community serving as an adviser, director and member of numerous boards and committees. An avid outdoorsman, he is active member and leader in the Boy Scouts of America and Wilderness Inquiry, an organization dedicated to connecting people from all walks of life to the natural world.”
