Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot Issues ‘Call to Arms’ Over SCOTUS Leak

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot responded to the recent SCOTUS leak suggesting Roe v. Wade will be overturned with a “call to arms” on Monday. “To my friends in the LGBTQ+ community — the Supreme Court is coming for us next. This moment has to be a call to arms,” Lightfoot wrote in a Twitter thread. “We will not surrender our rights without a fight — a fight to victory!”

Lightfoot’s “call to arms” was largely panned on Twitter, garnering just 4,000 likes while receiving 22,000 replies and counting. Critics pointed out the extreme reaction to the January 6 Capitol protests compared with leftist, or outright endorsement, of Lightfoot’s comments.

“The same people who want to sentence grandmas to death for waving the American flag in the Capitol on 1/6 have no problem with Lori Lightfoot literally calling for violence over a problem that doesn’t exist,” Sara Gonzales of The Blaze tweeted in response to the mayor’s comments.

“Trump was impeached for saying ‘fight like hell,’” wrote Canadian YouTuber Viva Frei.

Earlier in the day, Lightfoot pledged a $500,000 investment in the Chicago Department of Public Health to support abortion access for women, according to FOX 32 Chicago. The mayor has said that she wants Chicago to be an “oasis” for abortions.

Lightfoot also mirrored her “call to arms” rhetoric in saying that “other rights” were at stake if Roe v. Wade is overturned. “This includes women’s rights, trans rights, immigrant rights, and of course the right to same-sex and interracial marriage,” the mayor said. “We simply cannot stand idly by and let that happen.”

Lightfoot’s “call to arms” comes as far-left extremists continue to hold “protests” outside the homes of conservative Supreme Court justices. According to 18 U.S. Code 1507, parading or picketing at a judge’s residence in order to influence a decision is a federal crime. The demonstrations have continued, however.

Anti-abortion extremists have also attacked Catholic churches and pro-life nonprofits.

On Sunday, a pro-life office in Madison, Wisconsin was firebombed. Another nonprofit in Oregon was the target of an almost identical attack the following day.
