Drew Hernandez, a frontline reporter who has covered violent riots in numerous cities, confronted failed Texas Senate candidate Beto O’Rourke over his exploitation of the Uvalde massacre. Robert Francis O’Rourke — who infamously said “hell yes, we are going to take your AR-15 — has campaigned for gun control in the wake of the tragedy. Beto O’Rourke even crashed a news conference that was being held by Texas government officials, including Governor Greg Abbot, to give a stump speech.
“Hey Beto, how do you feel exploiting dead kids? How do you feel exploiting dead kids? Do you care?” Beto O’Rourke was asked by Hernandez. O’Rourke — who had shown up to campaign for gun control outside the NRA convention in Houston — is currently challenging Abbott for the governor’s mansion.
“The parents in Uvalde said they didn’t want you there! What do you say to the parents I talked to yesterday in Uvalde who said they didn’t want you there? They didn’t want you to do that Beto, they didn’t want you to exploit dead kids Beto!” Hernandez exclaimed.
“What kind of Beta exploits dead kids?” Hernandez continued to shout as O’Rourke pretended not to notice him.
BETA MALE: I confronted @BetoORourke today and asked him why he decided to exploit dead kids, he refused to give me an answer. He sure seems big and bold on stage, but when confronted he won’t even look at me pic.twitter.com/7QBkz2TT3D

Democrats have used the Uvalde tragedy as a potential rallying cry ahead of November’s midterm elections. A number of Democrats in both chambers of Congress, as well as President Biden, have called for “gun control” in the wake of the massacre.
President Biden put blame on “the gun lobby” and called for a ban on “assault weapons”; a term that has no clear definition.
But in the days following the massacre that left 19 schoolchildren dead, police inaction appears to have played a major role in the carnage.
The gunman — 18-year-old Salvador Ramos — had a history of violence towards women and was known to take joy in torturing animals.
In addition to the gunman avoiding law enforcement’s radar, the district’s police chief reportedly told responding officers not to breach while the gunman slaughtered an entire classroom. 911 callers from inside the classroom claimed that at least 9 children were still alive as of 12:16 pm, but the classroom was not breached for another 40 minutes.
Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District police chief Pete Arredondo reportedly told officers not to breach. The gunman was eventually taken down by an off-duty border patrol agent who had a child at Robb Elementary.
