On Friday, Elon Musk broke his silence on the over-hyped defamation trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, the latter a former girlfriend.
Musk has remained mostly silent about the 50 million dollar lawsuit between the two movie stars. He has offered little outside of some initial input during the jury selection and was expected at one point to take the stand to testify during the weeks-long trial in Virginia.
Depp is suing Heard for $50 million in damages for defamation over a December 2018 op-ed she wrote about abuse allegations vaguely alleging Depp as the perpetrator. Heard admitted in testimony that the abuser in her op-ed was indeed former lover Johnny Depp.
Heard is countersuing Depp for $100 million in damages.
In a Tweet on Friday, Musk made a simple statement in neutral support of Depp and Heard.
“I hope they both move on. At their best, they are each incredible.” Musk said.

Musk’s comment came in response to a post by Lex Fridman, who wrote, “My takeaways from Johnny Depp vs Amber Heard trial: 1. Fame is one hell of a drug (for some). 2. Psychiatrists & lawyers come in drastically varying levels of skill. 3. Lying to millions of people is something humans are capable of. 4. Love can be messy. 5. Mega pint of wine.”
According to National News, heard and Musk dated briefly between 2016 and 2017, broke up, and got back together again before calling it quits for good.
Musk was not called to testify in the trial, as expected. Many have awaited any commentary by the billionaire on his thoughts in the case involving his former girlfriend.
The high-profile case drew so much attention that a wristband policy had to be put in effect to neutralize the crowds around the Fairfax County Courthouse in Virginia, according to TMZ.
