DeSantis Threatens CPS Investigations Into Parents Bringing Children To Drag Shows

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis suggested he may order Child Protection Services (CPS) to investigate parents who bring their children to drag shows in Florida.

DeSantis’ comments came after viral footage showed young children present at a drag show in a bar in Dallas, Texas last week.

“We have child protective statutes on the books. We have laws against child endangerment,” the governor said.

The Republican leader suggested the drag shows are targeting young children as their audience: “It used to be kids would be off-limits. Used to be everybody agreed with that. Now it just seems like there’s a concerted effort to be exposing kids more and more to things that are not age-appropriate.”

Independent journalist Tayler Hansen documented the “Drag the Kids to Pride Drag Show” event held at the Mr Misster gay bar in Dallas.

Hansen posted footage of one of the entertainers with the caption “a drag queen drops it low for children and takes their money.”

The Florida Governor called the event “totally inappropriate” and “not something children would be exposed to.”

A multitude of other Republicans echoed DeSantis’ sentiment. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) tweeted, “It should be illegal to take children into Drag Queen shows and strip clubs. And there should be no federal funding for any school that intentionally confuses children about gender/sexuality. Any teacher or school employee caught doing so should be fired and lose all benefits.”

Florida Rep. Anthony Sabatini said he would propose legislation to push CPS to stop children from attending drag shows. Sabatini tweeted, “I will be proposing Legislation to charge w/ a Felony & terminate the parental rights of any adult who brings a child to these perverted sex shows aimed at FL kids.”

Sabatini, a rising Conservative firebrand, questioned, “When will the sexualization of children stop?”

Another dramatic drag show was held in Austin, TX over the weekend. Tayler Hansen posted footage from the hyper-sexualized event on Twitter.

Social media users were enraged by the show, with one individual calling the event the “Products of radical feminist and gender ideology.”
