A pro-abortion, leftist group called “ShutDown DC” has blocked off several streets surrounding the Supreme Court. The group’s stated goal is to establish a “blockade” in order to “shut down” the Supreme Court.
The pro-abortion mob is motivated by the looming opinion on Roe v. Wade, will be struck down if a leaked draft opinion holds up.
“On June 13, one of the Supreme Court’s 2022 decision days, we plan to blockade the streets around the Supreme Court to rise up for the transformative change that our communities need,” read’s the group’s website under a “Shut Down SCOTUS” tab.
“Following decades of organizing by the far right, conservatives now hold a majority on the Supreme Court, and a group of five justices can roll back critical rights and protections that should be settled law,” the group wrote.
ShutDown DC is also calling for the filibuster to be removed, which has become a common leftist position. “At the same time, the filibuster has left the Senate gridlocked and unable to pass legislation to protect our rights or enact the programs our communities need,” the leftist group continued.
Shutting down one of the three branches of the federal government will help save democracy, according to ShutDown DC.
“Right now our political system is in crisis. Times of crisis can either be opportunities to break through the inertia and win transformational change or they can be opportunities for the establishment to further entrench the status quo,” they added.
According to Hannah Nightengale of The Post Millennial, the leftist group has moved forward with their plan to “shut down” the Supreme Court on Monday morning. They were initially blocked by a group of pro-life demonstrators, which devolved into a shouting match between the two groups.

ShutDown D.C. then made their way to the Capitol complex, where pro-abortion activists blocked the intersection of First and Constitution by the Supreme Court, The Post Millennial reported.
The leftist group was soon surrounded by police.
Several members of another activist group, “Rise Up 4 Abortion Rights,” slept outside the Supreme Court on Sunday night in order to be ready for a “day of action” on Monday.

We're sleeping outside #SCOTUS to call EVERYONE who cares about women to get to DC & STAY!
It must become clear to all in power that we will sooner bring the gears of society to a grinding halt through mass nonviolent resistance than allow the right to abortion to be taken away. pic.twitter.com/C03JF0bYIh

The vows to “shut down” the Supreme Court comes just days after a deranged gun control activist flew across the country in order to kill Justice Brett Kavanaugh. The would-be assassin told investigators that he believed Kavanaugh would rule against potential gun control legislation. He also referenced the looming abortion decision.
