U.S. Rep Jamie Raskin (D-MD) recently mocked an Arlington resident who, along with his girlfriend, was assaulted by far-left extremists in December 2020. Charles Downs, who was attacked in DC’s “BLM Plaza” after a massive stop the steal rally, asked Raskins if he had any plans to investigate BLM and Antifa extremists. Raskin currently sits on the January 6 committee.
Charles Downs was one of many Trump supporters who were assaulted after D.C. Metro Police allowed black bloc, Antifa militants to roam the streets with impunity.
After millions of the president’s supporters descended on D.C. for a peaceful March on December 12, 2020, the evening hours were marked by assaults on protesters who were exiting the event. Downs, who was trying to escort his girlfriend to safety, was surrounded by a large number of Antifa extremists who proceeded to pelt the couple with eggs and other objects.
A video of the assault went viral and was even shared by President Trump.

Prior to the first January 6 hearing, Charles Downs asked Jamie Raskin if he planned on calling for a federal investigation into Antifa and BLM violence.
“I was just wondering, when are you going to investigate Antifa and BLM?” Downs asked Raskin in D.C.
After laughing, Raskin told Downs to “get some help with your problems,” as he entered the Capitol Building.
National File reached out to Congressman Raskin’s office for comment, but we have not received a reply.
My buddy @TheCharlesDowns just asked J6 member @RepRaskin when he’s going to investigate ANTIFA and BLM because they attacked him.
Raskin told him to get help.

In stark contrast to laughing at left-wing extremism, Raskin has called for President Trump to be prosecuted over the January 6 Capitol protests.
The Congressman has repeatedly referred to January 6 as a “coup” and an “insurrection” while using the committee to punish Trump allies.
“I just wanted answers,” Charles Downs told National File.
“The riots in 2020 had a chilling effect on the election,” he continued. “BLM and Antifa scared people away from voting for Trump, from volunteering, or speaking out at all. Who knows what difference it would have made.”
National File asked Congressman Raskin if he condemns political violence from the left, and whether the January 6 committee member has plans to investigate leftist violence in similar fashion. A reply has not been received as of this writing.
Raskin has made bold claims in hyping up the committee’s public hearings, which have drawn abysmal ratings in primetime slots on with major networks.
“The hearings will tell a story that will really blow the roof off the House,” Raskin said this past April.
“No president has ever come close to doing what happened here in terms of trying to organize an inside coup to overthrow an election and bypass the constitutional order,” he said. “And then also use a violent insurrection made up of domestic violent extremist groups, white nationalist and racist, fascist groups in order to support the coup.”
The Congressman previously chastised the Trump Administration for deploying federal agents to Portland in 2020. The agents were dispatched in order to deal with organized, leftist political violence that continues to this day.
Leftist militants had burned several federal buildings and killed at least one Trump supporter by the time the president dispatched federal agents, a move Raskin called “dangerous.”

Ironically, Jamie Raskin was among a handful of Democrats who objected to the results of the 2016 election.
