Rage Against the Machine to Donate Nearly $500K From Concert Tickets to Pro-Abortion Orgs

Washed up rockers Rage Against the Machine have pledged to donate $475,000 from concert ticket sales to pro-abortion organizations.

The band raised the funds by selling charity tickets to their concerts at Alpine Valley Music Theatre in Elkhorn, Wisconsin and United Center in Chicago, Illinois.

“We are disgusted by the repeal of Roe V. Wade and the devastating impact it will have on tens of millions of people,” the band wrote in a post on Instagram. “Over half of the country (26 states) is likely to ban or seriously restrict abortion very soon, if not immediately, which will have a disproportionate impact on poor, working class and undocumented BIPOC communities.”

“Like the many women who have organized sophisticated railroads of resistance to challenge these attacks on our collective reproductive freedom, we must continue to resist,” the band continued.

Singer Lizzo has also vowed to donate $500,000 of her upcoming tour’s profits to Planned Parenthood and Abortion Rights, which concert organizing and promoting company Live Nation has pledged to match.

Live Nation has also vowed to cover expenses for employees who need to travel to obtain abortions. Travel fees are cheaper than paid maternity leave, after all.

Pop stars Billie Eilish and Taylor Swift have also spoke out against the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, though they have not announced donations at this time.

“I’m absolutely terrified that this is where we are,” Taylor Swift tweeted, replying to Michelle Obama’s statement. “That after so many decades of people fighting for women’s rights to their own bodies, today’s decision has stripped us of that.”

Eilish expressed her discontent while performing at the Glastonbury Festival in England.

“Today is a really, really dark day for women in the US. I’m just going to say that as I cannot bear to think about it any longer in this moment,” she told the crowd.
