After former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson testified in front of the Jan. 6 House select committee on Tuesday, Secret Service agents are reportedly preparing to testify in dispute of her claims.
Hutchinson, in a dramatic story, claimed former President Donald Trump physically lunged at a Secret Service agent and tried to grab the steering wheel of the vehicle following his speech near the White House on January 6th, 2021.
Allegedly, Trump wanted the Secret Service to drive him to the Capitol, where Trump supporters had gathered in protest. The former president wanted to be with his supporters but the Secret Service refused to follow the president’s orders.
Cassidy Hutchinson said the president became “irate” in the vehicle after the Secret Service refused to listen to him. Then, she claims Trump responded by saying something to the effect of “I’m the f***ing president, take me up to the Capitol now” before lunging for the steering wheel. The white house aide also claims Trump “then used his free hand to lunge toward Bobby Engel.”

A source told CBS News that Secret Service special agent Robert Engel and the agent driving Trump’s vehicle are prepared to testify against Hutchinson’s claims. However, the agents reportedly will not dispute that Trump was irritated and wanted to go to the Capitol to be with his supporters.
“The United States Secret Service has been cooperating with the Select Committee since its inception in spring 2021, and will continue to do so, including by responding on the record to the Committee regarding the new allegations surfaced in today’s testimony,” Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi said in a statement.
Former President Trump ripped into Hutchinson on his social media platform, Truth Social, following her testimony. “Her [Cassidy Hutchinson’s] Fake story that I tried to grab the steering wheel of the White House Limousine in order to steer it to the Capitol Building is “sick” and fraudulent,” he posted.
“There is no cross-examination of this so-called witness. This is a Kangaroo Court!,” Trump added.
