New York City is Now the “Epicenter of the Monkeypox Outbreak” Which Accounts For 30% of All US Cases

The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene recently released data on the rising cases of monkeypox in the ‘Big Apple’ where cases have more than doubled in the past week.

The outbreak in New York City accounts for 30 percent of all cases in the country, according to Breitbart, citing information from NY Health Department.

“There are now [489] cases of monkeypox in the city, which is more than 30% of the recorded cases of monkeypox per the CDC,” NY Health said in a statement. “New York City is the epicenter of the monkeypox outbreak in the U.S. and yet does not have sufficient vaccine supply to reach the number of people who need it to protect themselves.”

According to CDC, California came in second with 266 cases of monkeypox just behind New York, followed by Florida with 154 cases.

On Friday, Manhattan Borough President Mark D. Levine shared the data on his Twitter.

“[Data] shows a rapid rise in cases, more than doubling in [the] past week,” Levine wrote. “Data also shows that among cases: * Median age is 35 (range 20 to 69 yrs) * 95.5% men * 60.4% of cases in Manhattan.”

Additional 9,200 monkeypox vaccine appointments have been provided by the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and they have encouraged everyone to book an appointment.

It can be recalled that New York City’s monkeypox vaccine appointment website crashed “due to overwhelming traffics” and the leftists were not happy.

As the city sees an uptick in cases, Fauci said the Monkeypox outbreak needs to be taken more seriously.

“This is something we definitely need to take seriously. We don’t know the scope and the potential of it yet, but we have to act like it will have the capability of spreading much more widely than it’s spreading right now,” Dr. Anthony Fauci told CNN Saturday.
