Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) has claimed that FBI whistleblowers have provided him with proof that high-ranking bureau officials conspired to bury Hunter Biden laptop details. Emails that have been obtained by The New York Post, and others that have been distributed by whistleblower Jack Maxey, detail influence peddling schemes centered on them-Vice President Joe Biden.
The FBI and Department of Justice have been accused by “highly credible whistleblowers” of burying “verified and verifiable” details on shady business dealings and other criminal conduct involving President Biden’s son Hunter. FBI and DOJ officials falsely discredited the details as “disinformation” in the build-up to the 2020 election.
Grassley — who serves as the ranking member on the Senate Judiciary Committee — made the bombshell claims in an official Senate letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray and Attorney General Merrick Garland on Monday.
In his letter, the longtime Senator claims that the allegations would prove, if confirmed, that both entities were “institutionally corrupted to their very core.”
“You have an obligation to the country to take these allegations seriously, immediately investigate and take steps to institute fixes to these and other matters before you,” Grassley wrote to Wray and Garland.
Grassley, along with Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI), has been investigating President Biden’s direct knowledge, and participation in, his son’s influence peddling schemes for over a year. The Senator said that his office has “received a significant number of protected communications from highly credible whistleblowers,” as the investigation has played out.
Some information involved the “FBI’s receipt and use of derogatory information relating to Hunter Biden, and the FBI’s false portrayal of acquired evidence as disinformation,” the Senator wrote. “The volume and consistency of these allegations substantiate their credibility and necessitate this letter,” Grassley went on to say.
“The whistleblowers “alleged that the FBI developed information in 2020 about Hunter Biden’s criminal financial and related activity,” Grassley wrote of Joe Biden’s ascent to the presidency.
“Based on allegations, verified and verifiable derogatory information on Hunter Biden was falsely labeled as disinformation,” Grassley wrote. “Such action continued until at least October 2020 — a month before the election — when info was dismissed as disinformation even though it was allegedly “either verified or verifiable via criminal search warrants,” he continued.
The assistant special agent in charge then “allegedly ordered the matter closed without providing a valid reason” — and then “attempted to improperly mark the matter in FBI systems so that it could not be opened in the future,” the Senator went on to write.
“Attorney General Garland and Director Wray, simply put, based on the allegations that I’ve received from numerous whistleblowers, you have systemic and existential problems within your agencies,” he concluded. He is now calling for an investigation and the release of documents and communications that deal with the allegations.
Both the FBI and DOJ confirmed that they received Grassley’s letter in an inquiry from CBS News, though both agencies declined to comment.
