FBI Seizes U.S. Rep Scott Perry’s Cell Phone

A day after the Biden FBI conducted a raid on former President Trump’s Mar-A-Lago estate, the bureau has seized a cell phone belonging to U.S. Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA). Perry was a leading figure in Trump’s election integrity efforts in Pennsylvania.

While traveling with his family on Tuesday, Scott Perry was approached by three FBI agents who presented him with a warrant and seized his cell phone.

“This morning, while traveling with my family, 3 FBI agents visited me and seized my cell phone. They made no attempt to contact my lawyer, who would have made arrangements for them to have my phone if that was their wish. I’m outraged — though not surprised — that the FBI under the direction of Merrick Garland’s DOJ, would seize the phone of a sitting Member of Congress,” Perry told Fox News in a statement. “My phone contains info about my legislative and political activities, and personal/private discussions with my wife, family, constituents, and friends. None of this is the government’s business.”

Perry — an Afghanistan veteran — asserted in his statement that “as with President Trump last night, DOJ chose this unnecessary and aggressive action instead of simply contacting my attorneys. These kinds of banana republic tactics should concern every Citizen — especially considering the decision before Congress this week to hire 87,000 new IRS agents to further persecute law-abiding Citizens.”

Perry is a five-time congressman and a founding member of the House Freedom Caucus. In the beginning of this year, he took over as the group’s leader.

The Pennsylvania congressman was also a key proponent of election integrity in the weeks and months following the 2020 election. He attended several “Stop The Steal” rallies and voted not to certify the election results on January 6, citing unsolved election irregularities in a number of states.

Due to his work with Stop The Steal, Scott Perry has been a prime target of Nancy Pelosi’s January 6 committee. He was in close contact with Trump in the months leading up to the election, leading many to speculate as to the purpose of Tuesday’s raid.
