America First Candidate Laura Loomer Secures Massive Victory in Villagers For Trump Straw Poll

Last Updated on August 19, 2022

America First congressional candidate Laura Loomer crushed U.S. Rep. David Webster (R-FL) in a Villagers for Trump straw poll. Loomer ultimately received 89.07 percent of the vote from the key demographic, compared to just 10.2 percent for Webster.

“Villagers for Trump is the largest and most impactful club in The Villages, the largest voting block in my district,” Loomer said after the massive victory.

Loomer has been running an America First campaign and has hit Webster hard over key missed votes. The Florida congressman most notably missed a Trump impeachment trial despite overwhelming support for acquittal from his constituents. Webster has claimed that he had a family emergency that day and was unable to make the vote.

The congressional hopeful has referred to the six-time congressman as one of the most absent members of Congress” and accuses him of not “showing up for them in times when it matters most.”

The two are set to square off in the August 23 Republican Primary. Since there is no Democrat in the race, the primary will be winner-take-all.

In addition to the massive straw poll victory, Laura Loomer has gained a significant edge in fundraising. According to the most recent FEC report, Loomer has raised $665,021 while incumbent Webster brought in $552,103 through June 30.

FEC reports show that Loomer had 1,029 donors while Webster had 282 donors. Websters donors, while fewer in number, tend to donate larger amounts. A large portion of Webster’s funds have come from political action committees (PAC’s).
