Rakim Allen, a popular rapper/singer who went by the stage name PnB Rock, was shot and killed during a robbery in a popular Los Angeles restaurant. Allen, 30, appears to have been targeted, as he was the only person injured in the flash murder and robbery. Just a week before his death, Rock talked about how “bold” criminals were becoming in Los Angeles during an interview with DJ Akademiks.

Allen was shot while dining with his girlfriend at Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles. A video showing the rapper laying in a pool of his own blood was widely circulated on social media before his death was officially confirmed on Monday evening.

Law enforcement received a call with reports of a shooting victim at 1:23 p.m. local time. Restaurant employees and patrons could be seen attempting to render aid to the wounded PnB Rock while waiting to paramedics to arrive.

The popular rapper later died at a local hospital, TMZ confirmed.

As of Tuesday afternoon, law enforcement has yet to name a suspect or provide details on the case. PnB Rock was seemingly targeted, as nobody else was injured in the shooting.

According to TMZ, the killer took jewelry and chains off PnB before fleeing the scene. Surveillance cameras were active in the restaurant at the time, and additional details are expected to be forthcoming over the next few days.

One week before his death, the slain rapper told DJ Akademiks that criminals in Los Angeles were “bold” and that he had previously been confronted while out with his family.

“Somebody tried me on Fairfax mid-pandemic,” Rock said. “They see me with my family and they think I’m lacking.”

“Where I’m from [Philadelphia], we like sneaky criminals. In LA, it’s like they bold,” he continued.

A number of artists have paid tribute to PnB Rock in the hours following his death. He is survived by his girlfriend, Stephanie Sibounheuang, and his two daughters.
