Boston Police have found two male and two female infants deceased in an upscale home in the city.
At least two of the infants or fetuses were found in a freezer.
Police were sent to the home in mid-November after someone called 9-1-1 to report that they had seen the dead babies inside of the home.
“At about 2:15 pm on Thursday, November 17, 2022 officers assigned to District 6 responded to a radio call to investigate a premise at 838 East Broadway in South Boston,” the Boston Police Department said in a press release.
The department explained that “officers located what appeared to be a human fetus or infant. On Friday, November 18, 2022, homicide detectives located what appears to be additional human remains, which were removed by personnel from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for further investigation.”
“A post-mortem examination was performed on two infant males and two infant females, and the results of the autopsies remain pending. The Boston Police Homicide Detectives along with the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office continue to investigate this incident,” the press release continued.
The department said, “We don’t anticipate any additional information at this time,” a bizarre statement since so little information has been released.
The Boston Herald reports, “the building in question is condoized into nine units. The one listed on the police report, valued in city property records in the $520,000 range that seems low for pricey Southie, has been owned by the same woman since the early 1980s. She’s now in her 60s, and no family members have been able to be reached for comment.”
NBC Boston reports, “the medical examiner’s team was seen carefully removing a container from the building that was only about three feet long. Investigators spent hours at the home, focused on a one-bedroom apartment.”
“It’s obviously heartbreaking,” neighbor Connor Foley told the station. “I think that’s the biggest thing is just that – it’s weird not knowing what happened. Obviously there was that discovery but we have no idea what led to that happening, if there’s still a threat or, you know, I think that’s the biggest thing is people just want to figure out what happened.”
The Boston Police Department said that they are continuing to “review the facts and circumstances surrounding this incident.” They stated that anyone with information is strongly urged to contact Boston Police Homicide Detectives at (617) 343-4470.
No arrests have been announced at this time.
