Donald Trump’s former National Security Advisor has called for the former president to run for the Speaker of the House instead of establishment Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.).
General Michael Flynn, Trump’s National Security Advisor, encouraged former President Trump to run for House Speaker.
As the January 3rd House Speaker election approaches, it appears Kevin McCarthy does not have the 218 votes necessary to take up the Speaker’s gavel.
Despite Republicans holding 222 floor seats, at least a dozen courageous Trump-aligned House Republicans may vote against McCarthy which leaves the California rep. multiple votes short.

House Republicans have ripped into Kevin McCarthy for past anti-Trump comments he has made and his refusal to change Nancy Pelosi’s rule changes in the House.
When Pelosi took over the Speaker role she got rid of the historic “motion to vacate the chair” rule which gave her unchecked power. The motion to vacate allowed congressmen to make motions to vacate the speaker chair and elect a new leader if the Speaker was not satisfying the party.
McCarthy’s unwillingness to restore the ability to vacate the chair would give the FTX-linked McCarthy unchecked power and leadership.
