The mother of Ashli Babbitt, who was tragically killed by a United States Capitol Police Officer on January 6th, 2021, was arrested near the Capitol Friday afternoon.

Babbitt’s mother, Micki Witthoeft, was reportedly arrested for jaywalking. A viral video of the incident was posted to Twitter and shows Capitol police aggressively handcuffing and taking Witthoeft into custody while onlookers are ushered to the sidewalk.

“I did not murder her daughter,” the officer in question responded.

Before arresting Witthoeft, police can be heard telling the activists, “you’re not obeying the traffic law, you move to the sidewalk or you’ll be placed under arrest.”

“Sidewalk now or you’re under arrest. It’s that simple we’re not discussing it the sidewalk or you’ll be placed under arrest,” an officer added.

One Twitter user posted images of Witthoeft protesting outside of the Capitol on the J6 anniversary with a group of activists.

The protestors held signs with images of Babbitt, Kevin Greeson (another Trump supporter who perished during the J6 protest), or messages like “JESUS IS LORD,” or “MURDERED BY CAPITOL POLICE.”
