Last Updated on January 8, 2023

Social media videos show what appears to be thousands of Brazilians breaking into the National Congress in Brazil.

The Guardian reported supporters of former Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro have also taken over Brazil’s presidential palace and supreme court building as well.

Protestors have called for the Brazilian military to overthrow the newly-elected President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, who was sworn in as president last Sunday.

Bolsonaro supporters believe the recent presidential election was stolen, alleging fraud.

Videos shared on social media show an enormous spectacle occurring outside and within the government buildings aforementioned.

“In Brazil now: right wing mobs of Bolsonaro supporters have attempted an insurrection & tried to take the congress building & other govt institutions in the capital Brasilia,” one user tweeted with a video of thousands entering the National Congress.

One video from inside the Congress building shows multiple windows were shattered during the protest.

Activists vying to takeover the presidential palace were also posted on Twitter. Tear gas bombs can be heard.

National File previously reported on the Brazilian Bolsonaro-Lula election. Fox News’ Tucker Carlson questioned the legitimacy of Brazil’s election in November:

Fox News’ Tucker Carlson questioned how Lula da Silva, who is a convicted criminal and far-Left candidate successfully ousted Bolsonaro.

Carlson noted how millions of Brazilians have been protesting against the election results and how Bolsonaro has yet to concede.

“According to official tallies, a convicted criminal, an avowed socialist, called Lula da Silva, beat the incumbent president of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, by a narrow margin this weekend, and yet millions of Brazilians, millions, don’t believe that’s what actually happened. Bolsonaro himself has not conceded. There are protests all over Brazil right now. You’re seeing some of them on your screen right now. There are questions about whether all the ballots had been counted, why so many were thrown out — millions — and whether election laws were violated in the process.”

Carlson went on to knock the idea that Brazil is truly a democratic country…
