Report: DeSantis Broke Florida Law, Allies Rush to Hide His Taxpayer Spending from the Public

Allies of Governor Ron DeSantis are pushing Florida Senate Bill 1616 and Florida House Bill 1495 through the Florida State House to withhold Ron DeSanits’ taxpayer spending from the public. DeSantis allies hope to bring a bill to the Florida Governor’s desk to sign before the Florida Legislative session ends in May. Political insiders believe DeSantis will officially announce a presidential run at the end of Florida’s legislative session. DeSantis has recently been traveling the country on a book tour, which Karl Rove admits is a presidential campaign tour in disguise.

DeSantis ally Senator Jonathan Martin is the Florida State Senator sponsoring Senate Bill 1616, which reads: “An act relating to public records; amending s. 943.68,3 F.S.; providing an exemption from public records 4 requirements for records relating to transportation 5 and protective services of specified persons provided 6 by law enforcement agencies; providing for retroactive 7 application; providing for future legislative review 8 and repeal of the exemption; providing a statement of 9 public necessity; providing an effective date.”

Florida State Representative Jeff Holcomb sponsors HB 1495, which contains similar language to its Senate Counter Part SB1616.

Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s annual Report of Transportation and Protective Services states that Governor DeSantis spent $6.097 million taxpayer dollars during the 2021-2022 fiscal year on protective services for himself, his family, and visiting officials.

Laura Loomer recently reported that a source “who is known in GOP fundraising circles was asked if they were interested in attending one of the dinners to raise money as a bundler for DeSantis in 2024. When the source inquired more details about the dinners, they were told by Bailey that each dinner would host 20 bundlers and that the dinners would take place in Tallahassee, Florida at the Governor’s Mansion, which is the residence of Governor DeSantis, his wife, and their children.”

If true, this would violate Florida Law, which states, “no person shall make, and no person shall solicit or knowingly accept any political contribution in a building owned by a governmental entity.”

DeSantis has been traveling the country on a “book tour.” Karl Rove admitted on Fox News that in reality, the “book tour” is a presidential campaign tour in disguise, meant to skirt the Florida law that blocks DeSantis from seeking the presidency while serving as governor.

No matter what the tour may truly be, DeSantis barely drew a crowd of 200 people in South Carolina.

National File reported that warmongers like John Cornyn were eager to attend DeSantis’ D.C. event.
