DeSantis Falsely Attacks Trump With J6 Talking Points

Last Updated on July 18, 2023

As news broke about Trump’s impending arrest on J6 charges, Ron DeSantis began peddling J6 Democrat talking points at his South Carolina event. DeSantis’ failure to support Trump is more evidence that the Florida Governor hopes Trump is arrested and jailed before the election.

Speaking on Jack Smith’s looming J6 Trump Indictment, Ron DeSantis said, “For example, um, I think it was shown how [Trump] was in the White House and didn’t do anything while things were going on. He should have come out more forcefully.”

DeSantis’ response sounded similar to J6 Committee Democrat Elaine Luria’s (ex-VA-2). During the J6 hearings, Luria said, “Donald Trump lit the flame, poured gasoline on the fire, and sat in the White House dining room for hours watching the fire burn as rioters attacked the U.S. Capitol. Today, he continues to fan those flames. This was his dereliction of duty.”

If it’s any indication of DeSantis’ political fortunes, Luria was bounced from Congress in the 2022 midterms.

Both DeSantis and the J6 Committee are wrong with their assessment. Trump repeatedly posted on social media for people to remain peaceful. Trump also called on people to “peacefully and peacefully and patriotically” march to Capitol.

Jack Smith will likely use DeSantis’ comments as propaganda to attempt to sell to the American people that Biden’s DOJ arrest of Trump has nothing to do with politics. Team DeSantis is staffed with knowledgeable political operatives, it is hard to believe that Team DeSantis is not banking on Smith using Ron’s comments against Trump.

Ron DeSantis has surrounded himself with never-Trump globalists. Team DeSantis is smart enough to know that they can’t beat Trump if Trump remains in the race. This is leading many to believe that Team DeSantis has been banking on Trump to get arrested, tried, and jailed in D.C. right before or during the GOP primary.

Ron DeSantis has refused to sign Vivek’s pledge to pardon Trump if he is elected. DeSantis has also refused to back Trump if Trump is the GOP nominee. This indicates that DeSantis would be more than happy to see Trump sit in jail for the rest of his life.
