DeSantis FEC Records Show AMEX Credit Card Payments

Last Updated on July 25, 2023

Laura Loomer exposed FEC records showing Ron DeSantis for President used campaign funds to pay off American Express Credit Cards. Campaign law states that candidates who spend over $200 on a credit card must list the reason for spending. DeSantis for President did not list specific reasoning for expenditures. This looks to be a clear campaign violation.

Loomer tweeted a photo from FEC records showing the DeSantis campaign made massive payments of over $100,000. The photo’s caption read, “It appears that @RonDeSantis may be using his campaign funds to pay off his personal America Express credit card.”

Loomer then explains how highly unusual it is for campaigns to have a credit card in the first place, tweeting that “It’s taboo for campaigns to have credit cards. Campaigns are only supposed to have debit cards. But according to FEC disbursements, I’ve discovered, @RonDeSantis has used campaign funds to pay off hundreds of thousands of dollars of charges on his American Express credit card.”

The tweet wrapped up with Loomer pointing out that DeSantis failed to inform the FEC on what the credit card payment was for, “One payment on 6/13/23 was for $175,589.20 for a “credit card payment”. Another “credit card payment” to AMEX was made on 6/23/23 for $148,347.66. Campaign expenses are supposed to be itemized. What exactly did DeSantis spend nearly $324,000 on that was paid for on his AMEX credit card?”

Interestingly, FEC records show DeSantis made a $5,764.08 American Express credit card payment for travel on 6/23/23. This shows DeSantis was specific on some credit card payments but not on others.

This fact makes it extremely likely that the massive unspecific credit card payments on DeSantis’ FEC reports are personal payments.

At the very least, why isn’t the FEC investigating Ron DeSantis’ credit card spending? One reason may be because the globalist Deep State bureaucrats entrenched in the FEC want DeSantis to win.

It’s safe to assume if Trump had a similar FEC form as DeSantis, Trump would be getting arrested again, this time for FEC reporting violations.
