BREAKING: India Lands Chandraayan-3 on Lunar South Pole in Major Achievement, Becomes New Space Superpower

Chandrayaan-3 and the Moon surface.

One and a half Billion Indians, as well as space enthusiasts all over the world, are celebrating the historic feat by the Indian Space Agency ISRO in landing a spacecraft on the moon.

The outstanding Chandrayaan-2 success is not only a landmark in India’s history, but in fact a memorable event for the whole human race.

The joyful Indians have become the first nation to soft land a craft on the Lunar south Pole, and joined the most select group of nations whose space programs have landed crafts on the surface of the moon, along with the US, the Soviet Union/Russia and China.

Launched on July 14th, the mission took 42 days to reach its destination, with an fuel-saving orbit that used the Earth and the Moon’s gravity to give impulse to the craft.

The last part of the descent is the most dangerous, as the Indians found in the previous landing attempt:

Mint reported:

“Chandrayaan-3 is the follow-up mission of 2019’s Chandrayaan-2 Mission which was partially successful as per the ISRO. In the previous Moon mission, the Vikram lander of the Chandrayaan-2 crashed while attempting the soft landing on the Moon’s surface due to a technical glitch. However, this time scientists are optimistic about safe soft-landing as they have made certain changes in creating the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft to avoid the same mistakes.”

Prayers for the Lunar mission.

The deeply religious Indians also resorted to the Higher Power in search for a happy and successful conclusion to the space mission. Special prayers were said in the place of the holiest Hindu festival of the river Ganges.

News18 reported:

“Special prayers were offered during the world-famous Ganga Aarti at Varanasi’s Dashashwamedh Ghat on Tuesday evening for the Chandrayaan-3 that is scheduled to land on the moon around 6.04 pm on Wednesday. Prayers were also offered in other parts of Uttar Pradesh for the success of India’s moon mission.

Dashashwamedh Ghat, the venue of the world-famous Ganga Aarti, reverberated with chants on Tuesday as people came together and offered special prayers for the successful landing of the Chandrayaan-3. Locals and foreign tourists all took part in the special prayer ceremony organised by the Ganga Sewa Nidhi (GSN)—which carries out the aarti—and prayed for the success of the moon mission.

‘It’s altogether a different scene, seeing everyone, including foreign tourists, praying for the successful landing of the Chandrayaan-3. It was a thrilling experience as we hadn’t witnessed such a brilliant Ganga Aarti session in our life’, said Sanjay Chaturvedi, a local resident, who attended the ceremony along with friends and relatives.”

This historical event is bound to turbo-charge PM Modi’s standing in the world community, as it happens right in the middle of the BRICS Summit in Johannesburg.
