Man of the People: Gaetz Attends J6 Vigil

Last Updated on September 15, 2023

Congressman Matt Gaetz attended a J6 vigil outside the D.C. jail Thursday night. Gaetz is one of the few members of Congress to visit the D.C. jail. This, as Gaetz promised to vacate the chair if Speaker McCarthy fails to: impeach Biden, defund the Biden’s DOJ witch hunts against Trump, and release all J6 tapes.

Gaetz gave a passionate speech outside the D.C. jail, saying, “I just wanted to say how sorry I am to any Americans who had to endure this two-tiered justice system and I want you to spread the word in there there are a group of us who know that we have to do more and we have not done enough. I believe that it is critically important that we get a full release of the January 6th tapes as Speaker McCarthy promised.”

Gaetz went on to turn the heat up on McCarthy, saying, “I do not believe that he [McCarthy] has fulfilled that promise. I think that is dishonest, partially to the people who have borne the brunt of this two-tiered justice system and I just wanted to come down here and say from my heart how much I appreciate those holding vigils and I am committing to you directly that I am going to work to get these J6 tapes released if Kevin McCarthy wants to keep his job.”

Those attending the vigil gave Gaetz a standing ovation following his speech. Gaetz’s speech was arguably the most impactful speech any GOP member has ever given related to the J6 prisoners.

In an exclusive, Gaetz told National File, “It’s productive that McCarthy has signaled a change in position on the J6 tapes after my social media post, But we will measure success by actions, not promises. And there is much more to do, This may be moving the ball one yard. Ninety-nine to go.”
