Guatemalan Fugitive Ordered Deported After Entering US as ‘Unaccompanied Minor’ Arrested for Rape

Rape suspect ordered deported in 2019 has remained in country ever since

A Guatemalan citizen who entered the U.S. as an ‘unaccompanied minor’ and was later ordered deported was arrested last week in Florida for sex crimes in Oregon, authorities say.

Juan Jose-Sebastian, 26, was taken into custody last week in Martin County, Florida, after sheriff’s deputies determined he was driving without a license.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) lodged a detainer against Jose-Sebastian but determined he did not meet “current enforcement priorities,” so the detainer was lifted.

“He was released from local custody and ordered to report to the ERO Alternatives to Detention program March 4,” ICE explained in a press release.

“After his release, officials discovered his warrants for rape in the third degree and sexual abuse in the second degree. ERO partnered with the Martin County Sheriff’s Office and arrested him March 2.”

Jose-Sebastian illegally entered the U.S. as an “unaccompanied child” on November 23, 2015, and placed on an ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) “non-detained docket.”

On July 24, 2019, a federal immigration judge ordered Jose-Sebastian deported to his home country of Guatemala, but he has remained in the country ever since.

Jose-Sebastian is wanted in Washington County, Oregon, on rape and sexual abuse charges, and is now in ERO custody “pending removal proceedings.”

Authorities continue to catch dangerous foreign criminals illegally present in the U.S.

Last month, a known MS-13 gang member with three prior deportations who is wanted for murder in his home country of El Salvador was arrested by ICE agents in Foxboro, MA.

Weeks ago, another MS-13 gangbanger from El Salvador with multiple convictions for sex crimes in the U.S. was arrested in Riverdale, Maryland.

Earlier last month, a Honduran gang member with a lengthy rap sheet and six prior deportations was caught illegally crossing the Canadian border into Vermont.

Days prior, ICE arrested a previously-deported child rapist in Massachusetts who had illegally returned to the U.S. around 10 years ago and was convicted of another sex crime in 2015.
