Further raises questions about Judge Juan Merchan’s impartiality after daughter is revealed as deeply entrenched Democrat political operative.
The daughter of the judge overseeing Donald Trump’s “hush money” trial in New York City worked for left-wing groups responsible for the attempt to remove the former president from the 2024 ballot.
Judge Juan Merchan’s daughter Loren Merchan is president and partner of Authentic Campaigns, a Chicago-based consulting firm which had fundraised for Democrat politicians like Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) and even Joe Biden.
But it turns out one of Merchan’s clients since 2023 is also the Brennan Center for Justice, which has filed lawsuits against the Trump administration and campaign over a dozen times, Natalie Winters first reported Monday.
The George Soros-connected Brennan Center filed an amicus brief advising the Supreme Court to reject President Trump’s efforts to overturn the Colorado Supreme Court’s decision to remove him from the ballot over claims he incited an insurrection on January 6th, 2021.
”The brief urges the Court to reject Trump’s attempts to revive the independent state legislature theory on appeal,” the Brennan Center wrote.
Merchan’s Authentic Campaigns website boasted of its effort to help raise money for the Brennan Center.
“Authentic embarked on a meticulously crafted journey to not only identify and acquire new subscribers but also to galvanize them into becoming active, contributing donors to the Brennan Center’s mission. We honed in on target audiences with a demonstrated affinity for progressive and pro-democracy causes as well as social justice nonprofit engagement, ensuring that our outreach was as resonant as it was expansive,” summarized the company of its robust efforts,” the website states, adding it “boosted the organization’s newsletter subscribers by 300K new names, a 204% increase.”
Authentic Campaigns’ sample ads for the Brennan Center include themes to “protect our democracy” and “protect election officials,” clear references to January 6.
Authentic Campaigns also has the Asia Society, a pro-China lobby group, listed as one of its clients.
The Asia Society sponsored CCP-run Confucius Institutes across America, propaganda centers with well-documented instances of espionage activities, most of which have since been shut down.
Trump’s lawyers in March had called for Judge Merchan to recuse himself from the case after it was revealed that his daughter was a political operative who fundraised $93 million in campaign donations for Democrats, raising concerns about Judge Merchan’s impartiality in the case.
Trump had previously raised similar concerns about Loren Merchan’s political ties on Truth Social, but was reprimanded after Judge Merchan expanded a gag order in the case.
