Alfredo Cabrera was killed in broad daylight while greeting fans

A mayoral candidate named Alfredo Cabrera was shot and killed on video in the state of Guerrero, Mexico on Wednesday.

The assassin filmed as he took out a handgun and fired at the back of Cabrera’s head before running off and being killed by nearby security who immediately began firing their guns at the culprit.

More footage shows the dead assassin:

Three bystanders were also injured in the deadly attack. The political assassination marks the 36th political candidate to be murdered in this year’s Mexican election cycle alone.

CBS News reports, “Cabrera’s death came just one day after a mayoral candidate in the central Mexican state of Morelos was murdered, while another one was wounded by gunfire in western Jalisco state. Last week, nine people were killed in two attacks against mayoral candidates in the southern state of Chiapas. The two candidates survived.”

Guerrero Governor Evelyn Salgado Pinedam issued a statement on X, writing, “I strongly condemn the unfortunate events in which the candidate for the municipal presidency of Coyuca de Benítez for the PRI, PAN and PRD coalition, Alfredo Cabrera Barrientos, lost his life.”

America’s southern neighbor is a hotbed for criminal activity and violent political attacks that is making its way into the States thanks to Biden’s open borders.
