Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) took to the Senate floor Thursday morning to address the threats made by Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) against Supreme Court Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh at a pro-choice rally in front of the Supreme Court Wednesday. (Note: Transcript added at end of article.)
Schumer had yelled at the justices while they were inside hearing an abortion law case, “I want to tell you Gorsuch! And I want to tell you Kavanaugh! You have released the whirlwind, and you will pay the price! You won’t know what hit you! If you go forward with these awful decisions…”
Following his remarks Democrat Chuck Schumer took to the floor following Mitch McConnell’s remarks on Thursday and offered a weak apology.
Schumer accused McConnell of a “glaring omission” by not mentioning that he was speaking regarding a Supreme Court case that could impact women’s ability to get an abortion.
The Democrat leader then admitted that he chose the wrong words to convey his message.
“Now I should not have used the words I used,” Schumer said. “They didn’t come out the way I intended to.”
Schumer then said, “In no way was I making a threat.”
